Although many people living in the northern climate of our country are enjoying the beautiful autumn leaves and are greeting the cold of the coming winter, we live in Hainan and similar southern climates. we look forward to the glory from the hot summer days and the cool days in the future.

Autumn growing season

October has brought good changes to Hainan's gardens, and the accompanying pictures will show some flowers that decorate our home landscape. We bloom in the outdoor landscape all year round, and I think we are enjoying the flowers when we look out the window or into the yard.

1. Longevity

Kalanchoes has added to our garden for many years, and once these succulent plants are established, they can easily reproduce from leaves or stems. In this climate, I simply break the stem, remove the bottom leaves, and put them directly into the ground to keep them moist for the first or second week.

Once in bloom, the flowers last for a long time and are a gorgeous complement to the garden landscape. After flowering, I move the flower stems away and cut them open if they become too tall or have long legs.

two。 Sunflower or hummingbird shrub

This gorgeous bush is covered with red tubular flowers, often called hummingbird bushes, because it attracts beautiful little bird creatures that sip sweet nectar from one flower to another. The freezing weather caused it to die and lose its leaves. Every spring of the year, I just switch it back about a foot from the ground, and it reappears and gets bigger every year.

This is a fast grower. I usually start growing hummingbird shrubs no more than a gallon in size. Over the course of a year of growth, our garden will increase the width of 120cm or 150cm and the height of 180cm or higher. Once the flowers begin to bloom, they last until the first frost or freeze. Therefore, hummingbird bushes are a useful and colorful supplement to sunny places in the landscape.

3. Mossy rose

These mossy roses are succulent plants that produce beautiful flowers with lotus leaves. They perform well in the bright sun. They also tolerate dry conditions well. Mossy roses are uninterrupted knickers. These little charms look great in rock gardens or wherever low-growing flowering plants are needed.

Even in last year's severe and unusual winter, when we snowed at two different times in Houston, these little guys survived on the ground, and when we had frost or freeze warnings, we threw them on softer vegetation. I sit them on the bed with other colorful plants. These little guys grow to the mounds on the land, because of the beautiful flowers, it is hard to miss.

4. Rose

Little mossy roses are planted on the bed of the same garden near their feet and some other roses.

5. Lantana Camara

Lantana comes from the family Verbenaceae. They are a rich underground plant in the climate of Houston, and I grow yellow and orange plants in different places around the yard. The nursery has other colors to choose from. Lantanas is in full bloom, attracting butterflies, bees and hummingbirds.

Last year, some of them were covered and protected from freezing, but even the unprotected Lantana survived the winter, proving their tenacity. Depending on the type of planting, Lantana can grow from 15cm to 150cm or longer.

I trim the yellow mound in the garden once or twice a year to keep it at a height of one foot. They seem to recover quickly from their "hairstyles" and quickly restore their prolific blossoms.

The oranges I grow near our little flower garden seem to want to grow taller. I keep it reduced so it doesn't interfere with bay bay laurel shrubs and nearby planted flat parsley and basil. At the end of the day, we can't see butterflies winding their way through our garden because these Lantana and our other plants attract them to visit.

6. Rose

These rose varieties were planted in our backyard last year, and since they bloomed continuously, they have been rewarding us for admiring them around the city and seem to need little care. I keep them covered because I do our other roses, and they are regularly watered and fed.

7. Impatiens

Since we first moved here many years ago, these shade-loving plants have been replanted on their own, almost surrounded by the canopy yard outside our home.

Last winter hurt many of them, but those who were warm from home and protected by bigger bushes survived and once again spread a little help into the yard in my hands.

8.Encore rhododendron

We have several types of azaleas in this yard. Although they have a spectacular performance every spring, these recycled azaleas blossom once or twice a year, adding extra color to the garden.

While replacing other types of shrubs, I continued to plant more of these azaleas. Why if you can have the same type of flowering shrub that blossoms more frequently, it blossoms only once? Encore azaleas come in different colors. When we moved into the house, the pink depicted above was right here. This is a beautiful woman!

9. Climb the rose

I no longer remember the name of this climbing rose, it helps to beautify our backyard, but it is a kind of beauty! Apart from giving them some type of support, such as a lattice that can grow, taking care of climbing roses is no different from taking care of any other type of rose. Climbing roses just gives the garden some pleasant vertical height.

10. Begonia

In our climate, this is a perennial plant, it has many different varieties and colors. I have a large number of them in the garden of their former home and try to build some in this garden. Begonias reward us with continuous flowers and have different colors of flowers and leaves. I hope you like these photos, just like taking pictures.
