Recently, some pig farmers asked: what is the reason why sows eat less feed, lose weight and have thick hair after birth? So, sow got anorexia, how to treat? Next, we will explain the sow anorexia in detail with you.

Postpartum anorexia in sows is a metabolic disorder.

The main clinical manifestations are: decreasing food intake, progressive emaciation, constipation, yellow urine, low fever, abdominal hanging, hair scorching, breast dryness, milk secretion gradually dried up. If it is not treated in time, it will not only affect the lack of milk of piglets, make piglets malnourished, stunted, become stiff pigs or even die, but also aggravate the condition of sows, further decrease their appetite or do not eat, and have difficulty walking. Often lying on the ground can not afford, moaning from time to time, showing a state of exhaustion.

1. There are many reasons for postpartum anorexia in sows, but the main ones are as follows.

① sows are malnourished and overtired during childbirth, resulting in an appetite disorder

② sows swallowed placenta, causing indigestion

③ feed is too refined and green roughage is insufficient, which causes constipation and loss of appetite in sows.

The abdominal pressure of ④ sows suddenly decreased after delivery, which affected the function of normal digestion.

⑤ postpartum feeding is too early, the feed is too much, the feed is too thick, and the sows are anorexic due to indigestion.

⑥ sows were infected postpartum and their body temperature increased, resulting in not eating.

2. When carrying out treatment, different conditions should be distinguished and different treatment measures should be taken.

① for sows with normal postpartum body temperature, dry or normal feces, but small breasts, reduced lactation, anorexia or non-eating, can be treated by feeding kelp. That is, the kelp is washed, chopped, boiled in a pot, and fed or fed to sick pigs once a day, 500 grams each time. Those who are mildly ill can be cured by feeding twice, and those who are seriously ill only need to be fed 5 times.

② for sows due to malnutrition, excessive fatigue during birth, or feed over-refined, indigestion and other reasons caused anorexia, can be treated with traditional Chinese medicine: Codonopsis pilosula 20 grams, astragalus 20 grams, mirabilite 50 grams, gypsum 5 grams, accumulation 5 grams, tangerine peel 15 grams, Scutellaria baicalensis 15 grams, Radix Rehmanniae 15 grams, licorice 10 grams, brown sugar 10 grams. Among them, mirabilite, gypsum and brown sugar are packed separately. Other traditional Chinese medicines are decocted with water twice. After mixing the filtrate, mirabilite, gypsum and brown sugar are dissolved and mixed into the feed together to allow sick pigs to finish eating at one time. Generally speaking, the symptoms are gradually relieved to recover on the second or third day after eating. If one dose has no obvious effect, you can take another dose after 5-6 days. If you take two doses in a row, you can generally be completely cured.

③ for sows due to postpartum infection, elevated body temperature caused by anorexia or non-eating, need to be treated with antibiotics to eliminate infection and lower body temperature. Such as injection of penicillin, streptomycin, sulfonamides and so on. Once the postpartum infection of the sow is cured, the anorexia or anorexia of the sow is eliminated.
