In veterinary clinical practice, we often encounter some 2-4-month-old young pigs whose skin is covered with brown crusts, showing symptoms such as mental dementia, loss of appetite, growth stagnation and so on. It is customary for the masses to call it a "pig mangy".

The causes of leprosy in young pigs are as follows:

First, caused by parasitic mites.

Second, young pigs lack nicotinamide in B vitamins. Nicotinamide is an indispensable component of coenzyme in animal metabolism. In other words, nicotinamide can help keep an animal's metabolism normal. The results show that certain amino acids, such as tryptophan, can be converted into nicotinamide in animals. Therefore, providing feed rich in tryptophan to young pigs can also prevent the occurrence of leprosy.

Third, it is reported that zinc deficiency in young pigs can also show symptoms similar to leprosy, which is called skin keratosis of young pigs in veterinary clinic, and the whole body of young pigs is also covered with gray crusts.

To find out the cause of leprosy in young pigs, it is necessary to treat the disease.

When diagnosed with nicotinamide deficiency, young pigs can be given nicotinamide tablets. Each pig takes 30mg to 50mg each time. Three times a day for 10 days as a course of treatment. At the same time, the feed is adjusted to provide feed rich in tryptophan.

When it is diagnosed that the leprosy of young pigs is caused by the lack of trace element zinc, it can be mixed with 0.5 grams of zinc sulfate per kilogram of feed, 10 days as a course of treatment, generally within a course of treatment.

Caused by parasitic mites, it has to be solved through deworming.
